Windows OpenVPN Tutorial


You can set up a VPN connection using OpenVPN GUI.

Step 1: Installation

  1. Download the OpenVPN client:
    for Windows 7 and higher - https://swupdate.openvpn.org/community/releases/openvpn-install-2.4.4-I601.exe
    for Windows XP, download here - http://swupdate.openvpn.org/community/releases/openvpn-install-2.3.14-I002-i686.exe
  2. Go to the directory with the downloaded file and run it:


  3. Accept the license agreement:


  4. The next step is the selection of components. You can leave the selection by default:


  5. Specify the installation location for the OpenVPN client. You can leave the selection by default:


  6. Install the TAP adapter. Check the "Always trust software from OpenVPN ..." and click on the Install:


  7. The next screen is the final one. If you want to read the Readme file, tick the "Show Readme". Click on the Finish to complete the installation.



Step 2: Setting up a connection with EnableVPN

  1. Download the EnableVPN configuration file:
    select the server you need in the Settings and click on the Download. The archive containing configuration files must be downloaded (for example, for the GER1 server as follow):
  2. Unzip the EnableVPN configuration files to the OpenVPN INSTALLATION PATH/config directory:


  3. It is time to connect to the EnableVPN! After installing OpenVPN the following icon will appear in the tray:


    Right-click the mouse and select Connect:
  4. A window with the login-password dialog will open.
    Enter your login-password associated with your EnableVPN account.


Congratulations! You are connected to the EnableVPN server.
